The Coming of Christ Devotionals | The Coming of Love | John 17:24-26

Day 1: The Hope of Jesus

Devotional

In a world that often feels hopeless, Jesus stands as our beacon of hope. He left the riches of heaven to live among us, not as a king, but as a humble servant. This act of love and sacrifice is the foundation of our hope. Jesus' mission was to bring hope to the hopeless, and He continues to do so today through His church. As we reflect on this, let us remember that our hope is not in the things of this world but in Jesus Christ, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Bible Verse

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. - Colossians 1:15

Reflection Question

How can you be a beacon of hope to those around you, reflecting the hope that Jesus brings?

Quote

Jesus is hope in a hopeless world.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for being our hope in a hopeless world. Help us to reflect Your hope to those around us, and to trust in You in all circumstances. Amen.

Day 2: The Peace of Jesus

Devotional

True peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of Jesus. He is the only one who can bring peace internally, calming the storms within our hearts. Jesus' peace surpasses all understanding and guards our hearts and minds. As we navigate the challenges of life, let us lean on Jesus, the Prince of Peace, and allow His peace to reign in our hearts. This peace is a gift that we can share with others, pointing them to the source of true peace.

Bible Verse

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:7

Reflection Question

In what areas of your life do you need to invite Jesus' peace, and how can you share that peace with others?

Quote

The only one who can bring peace internally is Jesus.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank You for being our peace. Help us to rest in Your peace and to share it with those who are struggling. May Your peace guard our hearts and minds. Amen.

Day 3: The Love of Jesus

Devotional

Jesus' love is transformative and unconditional. He stepped into our world to show us agape love, a love that is sacrificial and selfless. In His High Priestly Prayer, Jesus expressed His desire for us to experience this love and to be united in it. As we reflect on Jesus' love, let us be motivated to share it with others. This love is not just for us to keep but to spread, testifying to Jesus' glory and being active vessels of His love.

Bible Verse

Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. - John 17:24

Reflection Question

How can you actively demonstrate Jesus' agape love in your daily interactions?

Quote

Jesus steps into our world to show us love.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the unconditional love of Jesus. Help us to be vessels of this love, sharing it with those around us and reflecting Your glory. Amen.

Day 4: The Sacrifice of Jesus

Devotional

Jesus' mission on earth was marked by sacrifice. He left the fellowship with the Father to be betrayed and ultimately gave His life for us. This ultimate sacrifice calls us to consider what we are willing to give up for the sake of the gospel. Are we willing to sacrifice our time, resources, and comfort to share the love of Jesus with others? As we reflect on Jesus' sacrifice, let us be inspired to live sacrificially, putting others before ourselves and advancing His kingdom.

Bible Verse

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. - 2 Corinthians 5:14

Reflection Question

What sacrifices can you make to further the gospel and show Jesus' love to others?

Quote

Jesus mission cost him his life. What are we willing to pay?

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your ultimate sacrifice. Help us to live sacrificially, putting others before ourselves and sharing Your love with the world. Amen.

Day 5: The Mission of Jesus

Devotional

Jesus' mission did not end with His death and resurrection; it continues through His church today. He is still working, interceding for us, and empowering us to be His witnesses. As His followers, we are called to be active participants in His mission, sharing the gospel and making disciples. This Advent season, let us recommit to being vessels of Jesus' love and truth, spreading His message of hope, peace, and love to a world in need.

Bible Verse

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. - Acts 1:8

Reflection Question

How can you actively participate in Jesus' mission and be a vessel of His love and truth?

Quote

Jesus works through his church.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for the privilege of being part of Your mission. Empower us with Your Holy Spirit to be Your witnesses and to spread Your love and truth to the ends of the earth. Amen.
